The ensemble workshop was held at Music Mate in Fourways on the 29 June 2004. The audience was entertained by Neill Ettridge on Drums, Denny Lalouette on Bass, Jethro Butow on Guitar and Wessel Van Rensburg on Keyboards.
The evening was broken up into two 45 minute sessions. The evening was mostly made up of the musicians playing a 12 bar piece in many different styles like Latin, Reggae, Country, African etc. After each style they would explain the role of each of the instruments in each of the respective styles. The evening also included each musician discussing their instrument that they specifically use and why it works for them. They also discussed the importance of good time keeping, the role between the drummer and the bassist, how much is enough when playing a piece and they took time to answer some audience questions.

The audience was certainly well entertained by the evenings workshop. After such a success, events like these specifically featuring top S.A. Musicians will certain become more frequent.
